Calendar Year 2011 Critiquing Workshops

Workshops are held third Saturday of the month at the West End Library in Washington DC in one of the meeting rooms on the second floor.

Calendar Year 2011 Readings / events

Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, 7:30 PM — Herb Guggenheim and Fred Pollack will be giving a poetry reading at the Washington Studio School, 2129 S Street, NW, Washington, DC 20008. Call 202-234-3030 for more info. Herb received his MA from the Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University and his PhD from the Center for Writers at the University of Southern Mississippi. His poems and short stories have appeared in a number of literary magazines including the Beloit Poetry Journal, Gargoyle, and the Washington Review. His book Sunset at the Hotel Mira Mar: New and Selected Poems was published in July by Infinity Publishing. Frederick earned his BA in English from Yale University. He has two published books of poetry. 

April 16, 2011, 2-4 PM — In celebration of National Poetry Month, the Federal Poets held a poetry event including 3 featured poets Don Illich,  Elizabeth Black, and  Ron Vardiman, with an Open Reading following. Here are some pictures of the reading.

April 16, 2011 — Ingeborg Carston-Miller will be in Delaware, reading her poetry in German and English at the 2011 Symposium of the Society for German American Studies at the University of Delaware in Newark. 

April 14, 2011, 7:30 PM — There will be a reading from the upcoming anthology, "A Sea of Alone." Edited by Christopher Conlon at the Nora School, 955 Sligo Ave. in Silver Spring. The anthology consists of poems concerning the life, career and movies of Alfred Hitchcock. Readers will be Conlon, Miles David Moore, Anne Harding Woodworth and Norman Prentiss. Admission free.

March, 2011: The Joaquin Miller Cabin Summer Poetry Series took applications through the end of March for poets to read from their work for 2011. The readings run once a week during June and July, and are set in Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC, at the cabin owned by nineteenth century poet Joaquin Miller. Rosemary Winslow, Department of English, The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC 20064. Postmark deadline was March 31, 2011.

February 23, 2011, 7:00 PM — Federal Poets Miles David Moore and Doug Wilkinson read in a Federal Poets-themed reading at Kensington Row Bookshop, 3786 Howard Ave. in Kensington, MD. Jan Claire was on the program, followed by an open reading.
