Penny Whistle

Tilting, lilting,
totally intent on his tootling,
he rises from his feet to his lips
and culminates just beyond them,
bypassing the vacant eyes,
the compliant tongue, no,
you can see it, he is out there
at the tips of his fingers,
being the melody,
to make sure it comes out right.
