View of Lake Anne Fountain
Lake-light reflections are almost too much
for this miniature (as when an old tune
releases an avalanche of memories),
swelling and tilting and spilling over
with a slop of shimmering blues
and magentas, about to drip
out of the frame, barely pinned in place
by our knowledge that the solid icy candle,
erect, right of upper center,
is a fountain...
on a lake, surrounded by condos, houses,
shops, yes, you can put it all back
together again, just in the niche
of time, relax, and relish
all the pretty colors
that almost ate Reston.
