Wind Instrumentalist

He puffs his breath into a tube
where his fingertips can mold it
into music.

Music leaps out, a flame,
fills up space and,
illuminating it,

takes on its dusky tinge,
a diffusion of smoke and mere
breath without music, dissipates

until he breathes it in again
and pours it through his fingers
to refresh the flame.
