I
have created this animated gif, superimposing the painting more and more
densely on a photo from which I am working to see what the differences are.
Atthe turning point of the animated gif, there is a whiter line drawing
which I did as a transparent layer over the photo to show the differences.
This seems to indicate that the difficulties are, not the eyes, which the
mother has thought, but (1) a deviation in the jaw and more of a smile than
in the picture, (2) greater breadth to the shoulders than in the photo,
and (3), nose and mouth slightly higher. I have put this on the web because
the animation takes a while to download on a 56K modem and, since the gif
file is over 1 MB, I didn't want to try sending by email. I want to call
to the mother's attention that there is another photo I have of this girl
in which she is smiling more and has (at least apparently) less jaw. I will
want confirmation before I change the picture.
