Spring House, Nancy's Place

Spring House, Nancy's Place

by Pam Coulter

This was painted on site during the morning and noon of a steamy hot day during a "pleine air" workshop under Ed Cooper. It was accepted into the juried "artReston 2011" show and awarded a third place. I may yet work on it some more, as I am critical of the tree appearing right behind the house and the very dark grey stone on the front of the house near the bright patch. Even in painting on site, one is allowed artistic liberties.

This "spring house" resides on the site of "Nancy" whose last name I'm afraid I've forgotten, in Loudoun County. Thanks to her for the loan of her estate, which gave me four great paintings.

Previously: Juried in to the March 2007 Art League of Alexandria show at the Torpedo Factory. Completed in 2006 at a workshop with Ed Cooper in Loudoun County on an estate. Painted in oil on stretched canvas. 16 x 20.
