An Infinity Am I
One hundred years have I
Of blue soaked clouds and rolling hills
And green meadows beneath whose beds I lay.
Oh, sunlight! Sparkle deep within the brook
That you may, someday, have as many eyes as I.
The firmament is unto me as I
Am unto it.
10,000 years have I of peaceful days
Of sunlit fortitude
yea, if I wish -
For life is unto me as I see fit to see it.
Bear down not hard upon this fragile corpse
It has 10,000 years, said I
The firmament is not so old as I.
100,000 eyes have I
Of seasons past and days gone by
A wilderness of snow and leaves
Are settling, now, beside me and I yearn
to feel their arms.
So much lay hidden deep inside
Just stand up now and go as free.
A decision is the making of a universe.
100,000,000 now and 100,000,000 more
You cried to me to bare the shore
Ive tamed the sea and braved the surf
Ill not be dead when you are born
For I will rise
And, like you, shall seek abundantly
To forever search the skies.
How can this be, that Ill be here
When you arrive
Is it so different in your eyes?
Nay, in truth, the answer is
An infinity am I
And a trillion thrice youve lived as well
Tho the secret is well kept
Ill tell you now what truth foretells
An infinity am I
And from now until eternity -
An infinity are thee.
